PLAQUE HONORING REVOLUTIONARY WAR VETERANS TO BE DEDICATED SATURDAY AT FIREMAN’S PARK
The Captain Jabez Deming Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will unveil a special plaque on Saturday at Fireman’s Park in Brenham.
The America250 bronze plaque, honoring the patriots of the American Revolutionary War, will be dedicated at 2 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Plaza Pavilion.
The keynote speaker for the dedication ceremony will be State Senator Lois Kolkhorst, speaking on “The DAR – Past, Present and Future”. Words will also be offered by Brenham Mayor Atwood Kenjura and Washington County Judge John Durrenberger.
Music will be provided by members of the local DAR chapter and Americal Legion Post 48 Auxiliary. Colors will be presented by the Texas National Guard.
The public is invited to attend. A light reception will follow.
The DAR thanks local and regional military community leaders for collaborating to make the plaque and dedication ceremony possible. They include Washington County Veterans Association President Steve Miller; Brenham American Legion Post 48, Commander Billy Bryant; Burton American Legion Post 242, Commander Edna Mae Meyer; Disabled American Veterans Chapter 139, Commander Parry Collins; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7104, Commander Ben Seeker; and Washington County Veterans Service Officer Eric Posern.
