BRENHAM’S KUNKEL FINISHES FIFTH AT SOUTH TEXAS PGA CHALLENGE

Brenham Cubette Golfer Raylea Kunkel took part in the South Texas PGA Challenge that was held on Monday and Tuesday at the Black Horse Golf Course in Cypress.

Kunkel, who has represented the Cubettes in the State UIL Golf Tournament over the past two seasons, played in the Girls 15-18 Year Old Division. She started her junior year yesterday (Wednesday).

Kunkel shot a 79 on the first day, and an 83 on the second day for a two-day score of 162.

She finished tied with Lilly Mueller of Spring. Mueller shot an 83 on the first day and 79 on the second day to also have a two-day score of 162.

There was also a tie on the top of the leaderboard as both Makenzie Minshew of the Woodlands and Katelyn Davis of Kingwood finished in first place with two-day scores of 152.

Minshew had a 76 on both days, while Davis had a 77 on the first day and a 75 on the second day.

Mia Izaguirre of Houston finished third with a 79 on day one and a 76 on day two, which was good for a two-day total of 155.

Emma Poffinberger of Pearland was fourth overall. She had an 81 on the first day and a 79 on the second day for a total score of 160.
