COLLEGE STATION WOMAN KILLED IN TRUCK ACCIDENT FRIDAY
A College Station woman is dead following a crash that had a portion of Highway 6 closed for hours, Friday.
45-year old Teresa Ann Schwertner-Lee was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, near the University Drive overpass.
Schwertner-Lee was a passenger in a tractor trailer that slammed into a median of the highway. The flatbed trailer the truck was hauling landed on top of the cab, killing Shwertner-Lee and critically injuring the driver, whose name has not been released.
According to authorities, the driver was trying to avoid hitting another semi that lost a tire on the highway.
The 18-wheeler that had the tire separate from it continued to travel southbound on Highway 6.
The north and south bound lanes of Highway 6 remained closed for several hours.
These 18 wheelers on the road are dangerous, they kill so many people. Very sad.
