INCREASE IN SALES TAX REBATES FOR BRENHAM, DECREASE FOR BURTON, WASHINGTON CO.
Sales and tax distributions were only up for Brenham this month, as rebates were down for Washington County and Burton.
Brenham’s November rebate was $592,193, up 2.3 percent from when the city received $578,588 a year ago. Through 2019 so far, Brenham has received $6,393,480, compared to $5,951,428 at this point a year ago, a 7.4 percent increase.
Washington County’s rebate in November was $277,744, just 0.1 percent down from the $278,179 it received last November. To date, the county has received $2,938,094, a 7.3 percent increase from the $2,736,518 it received through this point last year.
Burton received $7,718 in November, down 18 percent from last November, when it received $9,416. So far this year, Burton has received $76,851, up 9.6 percent from last year’s $70,095 over the same time period.
Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported that the state paid out $849.6 million in November, up 4 percent from last November, and up 4.9 percent for the year to date.
