FIGHT BREAKS OUT AT KENNEY STORE EARLY SUNDAY MORNING

A fight broke out early Sunday morning at the Kenney Store and several people were transported to the hospital, but at this point, no arrests have been made.  The Austin County Sheriff’s Office reports that Deputies were dispatched to Kenney about 12:20 a.m. Sunday for a fight in progress involving 20 to 30 persons.  Two persons sustained injuries.

One person, age 22, was taken by private vehicle to Bellville Medical Center with head injuries from being struck by a beer bottle.  He was released from the hospital about 3 hours later.

Another person, age 21, was reportedly hit in the head with a beer bottle and was taken by Austin County EMS to Brenham for evaluation.

Officers are reviewing video from the Kenney Store.  Many of the people involved in the disturbance left the scene before officers could arrive.  No arrests have been made at this point.

Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes said officers are continuing the investigation, and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has also been notified of the matter.

  1. The Police will have that place under
Surviellance for the next few Saturdays.
DWI checkpoint. TABC will be checking
    For over serving. Be careful.

    1. Best thing buy your alcohol at a liquor store and drink it at home and stay put! You’ll save money and possibly save a life not being on the road plastered possibly killing off an entire family like what happened years ago at the intersection of FM 109 and 36..a whole family wiped out by a drunk driver. I like alcohol but I stay put

  2. If this fight was within Kenney Store I’m curious if they were abiding by the % allowed within the bldg. That place draws big crowds. Seriously if Brenhams -The Yard & BBQ place next door get shut down places in rural are to abide by same rules. Often times too much drinking results in fights….should be limit of how many beers sold to individual to keep from drunks & fights break out. If bars don’t recognize who’s had too many then places like that need to hire Security Guards…..its for their protection as well. Let’s hope management keeps better tabs on overdrinking & refuse to sell to them.
