FIRE DESTROYS HOME NEAR LAKE SOMERVILLE

A home near Lake Somerville was destroyed Wednesday evening in a fire.
At about 5:45 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire in the 9500 block of Lake Forest Circle off FM 1948, southeast of Yegua Creek Park. They arrived to find the home heavily involved in fire.
The Rocky Creek and Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Departments initially responded, but mutual aid was requested from the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department to help with water supply, due to there being no established hydrants in the rural area.

The home was deemed a total loss. The residents were not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. However, two pets did not survive the fire.
Approximately 25 personnel were on scene for about 4.5 hours. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
