LLOYD SAUNDERS MEMORIAL COOK-OFF SET FOR SATURDAY AT WASHINGTON CO. FAIRGROUNDS

A full day of food, music, and fun is in store this weekend at the annual Lloyd Saunders Memorial Cook-off at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Events for the cook-off, originally scheduled for April 4th, kick off Saturday morning with registration at 10:30 a.m.  From there, a variety of contests will be held throughout the day, including chili, beans, and chef’s choice.  New this year is a youth division for the chili and bean cook-offs.

T. Saunders, son of Lloyd Saunders and the chairman of the calf scramble committee for the Washington County Fair, says proceeds from the event benefit the Lloyd Saunders Memorial Scholarship, founded in Lloyd’s honor in 2008.

There will also be margarita and Bloody Mary contests, in addition to a live auction, corn hole toss, and live music with Bobby Z and the Trail Boss Band.

Kathy Randermann, a member of the volunteer committee for the event, says as this year’s cook-off falls on Halloween, there will be some new Halloween-themed activities.

Entry forms and more information are available at Robert’s Service Station, or online at http://lloydsaundersmemorialscholarship.com.

KTEX-106 is a proud sponsor of the event.
