NEW DEVELOPMENT IN WALLER PLANNED TO BRING 1,000 HOMES, HIGHWAY 290 IMPROVEMENTS
A Houston-based developer is proceeding with plans for a massive housing and retail development project in Waller.
Wolff Companies held a virtual groundbreaking this week for Beacon Hill, a master-planned community to be located on 521 acres of land on the north side of Highway 290 between FM 362 and James Muse Parkway.
The development will include 270 acres of around 1,000 single-family homes from Long Lake Ltd., along with 251 acres of retail and business park. Wolff Companies Chairman and President David Wolff said the multiuse space could include hotels, medical offices, multifamily housing, retail and grocery stores, logistics and manufacturing plants, and religious and educational institutions.
Wolff also announced the company had received TxDOT approval to implement access improvements to Highway 290 as part of the Beacon Hill project. Joint funding from TxDOT, Wolff Companies, and the new Beacon Hill Municipal Utility District will be used to create an off-ramp west of FM 362 for a new Highway 290 interchange called Beacon Hill Boulevard. A mile-long frontage road connecting Beacon Hill Boulevard to James Muse Parkway with a Highway 290 U-turn at the parkway is also planned.
TxDOT Houston District Engineer Eliza Paul said the interchange will not only serve Beacon Hill and the surrounding community by aiding traffic mobility, but will also create a “significant economic benefit,” opening up access to new sites for development.
Homes are expected to range from the low $200,000s into the mid-$400,000s. Long Lake Ltd. is slated to begin building homes in November, with the first homes available in early 2021.
Do you really want a large development like that here? That would bring in more BOBs. I’m fine with driving to B/CS or Cypress.
What are BOB’s?
Looks like a nice subdivision , A great economic Boost for that area, , Homes starting in the $200’s are a great option for people just starting out or who have been wasting their money as renters . Glad to see this is planned , Hope to see it actually be built .
I don’t need the stores. I don’t need the restaurant. I don’t need the extra traffic. I don’t need my government giving another retail business or corporate America a big tax break when they Choi’s to raise my taxes, raise my trash service, raise my utilities, make up a monthly drainage fee, etc.
Wow, isn’t that something and Brenham can’t seem to get anything besides an endless parade of “Precious Pretty” shops downtown that open and close within a few months or yet another Dollar Store, Chicken Shack or Mexican Restaurant !!! Oh well, guess I will have go there to shop if they have the stores that I like to shop at otherwise I will continue to go to Bryan/College Station and Austin !!!
Good that’s the point. Go there. That’s what big cities are for. Brenham isn’t a big city. Waller isn’t either but it is close to cypress/houston and with as well as the cypress outlet has gone why not develop something in Waller. Brenham will get there but it takes time and money, which includes raising taxes. Go to Bryan or Houston for your underwear shopping pumpkin maybe stay if you like it so much . Brenham is just fine for the rest of us
