ROUND TOP HOSTING SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION MAY 8TH

The smallest incorporated town in Texas invites the public to a landmark anniversary celebration during Mother’s Day weekend.

The Round Top Sesquicentennial Committee is hosting the town’s 150th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, May 8th in downtown Round Top.  The all-day event, pushed back from last year, will feature historical presentations and tours, food from local restaurants, kids’ activities, and live music throughout the day.

The birthday bash kicks off at 10 a.m. with a cannon blast, followed by magic shows and firetruck sprays; free cupcakes and treats inside the square’s courthouse; live music from Enzian Baum, the Round Top Brass Band and Black Cat Choir; and the first ever “Taste of Round Top,” showcasing popular food options from Round Top to locals and visitors.

Tours of the inside and out of the Festival Hill grounds will be available, and a special concert featuring James Dick, Julie Bouchard and Mike Stroup will be held for the first 150 guests at 3 p.m.

Ending the night will be a Country Legends Tribute to Waylon, Willie and George at 7:30 p.m. in the historic dancehall at The Stone Cellar.
