BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD SECOND BUDGET WORKSHOP WEDNESDAY

The Brenham City Council will continue discussion on the 2021-22 Fiscal Year budget at a workshop tomorrow (Wednesday).

The meeting will go over the city’s utility fund budget and will include possible action on submitting documentation to receive funds from the American Rescue Plan Act Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (CLFRF).

Last week, the council reviewed information on the general fund budget, including projections of a 2-cent decrease in property taxes, as well as more funding for projects such as the Lake Somerville intake structure repair.

Under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, the CLFRF provides funding for eligible local governments.  The U.S. Treasury manages distribution of these funds to Texas counties and cities with populations above 50,000.  Cities with populations of less than 50,000 are classified as non-entitlement units of local government and will receive funding distributed by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM).

According to the agenda packet, the CLFRF allocation for the City of Brenham totals $4,426,200, separated in two payments of $2,213,100.

The council will meet tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in the Roberta C. Johnson Program Room at the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library.
