WESTON HINZE WINS $1,000 FFA SCHOLARSHIP ‘DELIVERED’ BY DOMINO’S

Weston Hinze is recognized along with other Burton FFA and Washington County 4-H members at February's Burton School Board meeting.

A graduating senior from Burton High School has won a Future Farmers of America (FFA) scholarship.

Weston Hinze is one of 18 students across the country to receive a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Domino’s.  The scholarships are part of Domino’s five-year, $1.5 million commitment to the National FFA Organization.

Hinze served as his FFA chapter’s Greenhand vice president, sentinel, treasurer, vice president and as the district president.  Hinze participated in multiple livestock, dairy and wildlife judging competitions at the local through national levels, and was on his chapter’s skills, agriculture advocacy and prepared speaking teams.  Through FFA, he won many national and state awards including the Reserve National Champion Livestock Judging Team.

Outside of FFA, Hinze is heavily involved in the Burton 4-H Club, Washington County 4-H Program, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the National Society of High School Scholars and played on his school’s varsity baseball and football teams.

Hinze will attend Blinn College in the fall to study agriculture leadership, communications and political science.

Danish Dhedhi, Domino's franchise owner in Brenham, said “there is no Domino’s without the dairy, tomato, wheat and other farmers working hard every day to produce the food we serve.”  She said she is glad the company can help local students “achieve their dreams and develop a successful career in the agriculture industry.”
