BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES PAY RAISES FOR EMPLOYEES

Brenham ISD employees will receive higher salaries in the upcoming school year.

On Tuesday, the Brenham School Board approved the 2022-23 employee compensation plan, which accounts for a 5 percent raise from the midpoint for all teachers.  All educators will receive a $2,725 raise.

The plan also brings up the starting teacher salary from $48,000 to $50,000, and incorporates a 5 percent midpoint raise for all employees other than teachers.

Chief Financial Officer Thad Lasater said the increases should help put Brenham ISD more in line with what area school districts are paying.  He noted that this year’s compensation plan does not alter equity, as changes were made last year.

Lasater said the total of the raises will cost the district approximately $1.9 million.

  1. This is BRENHAM not Houston. The teachers already got a substantial raise a few months ago. I’m sorry, after subbing two years at all the schools I was hired to be a full time aid. There were wonderful mom teachers that were old school and Brenham knows who they are. After doing volunteer work a few years ago at one of the elementary I was not empresses with these middle age millennials with out any classroom management skills and only bringing up their own children in every conversation or reference. Point is the hardest thing they have to do is the car line.. The great teachers are retired. And we all know who these are. Sorry but it’s not money well deserved for many in the system AND the staff knows who they are to.

    1. Whether its Brenham or Houston, or Smithville it’s needed. Everything is going up and so should pay. As far as who should be there or not that needs to be for Human Resources. Don’t be bitter be blessed
