WASHINGTON CO. APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD ADOPTS REAPPRAISAL PLAN

The Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors adopted the 2023-24 reappraisal plan on Tuesday.

Appraisal districts are required to have a biennial reappraisal plan, which lays out certain activities that must be performed when reappraisals are done.  Those activities include defining market areas, identifying and updating property characteristics affecting value in market areas, and applying conclusions from an appraisal model to individual properties.

Chief Appraiser Dyann White said the only notable change to the plan from previous versions is that her office will reappraise by reviewing sales every year, instead of every other year.  She said this will have no negative effect on property owners, but may help alleviate large changes in value over time and help establish a baseline.

Appraisal notices are mailed every year and, as required by law, properties are inspected once every three years unless there is permit activity indicating they need an inspection sooner.

The reappraisal plan will be posted this week on the appraisal district website, https://washingtoncad.org.

Property owners are also invited to use www.washingtoncountytaxes.org to look up their property, see the estimated tax using the rates proposed by taxing units, and find what their taxes would be if the units kept the same amount of revenue as the prior year.

  1. Property taxes should be ILLEGAL. The truth is we already paid to own our home. Anyone who doesn’t agree to pay the Mafia money will have their property stolen by the county and put up for auction. This is what happens to many older people’s homes they worked a lifetime for. We do not owe anyone else’s children a sick education in gender identification. If you have a child you pay for the education. That’s it. No more. May God have mercy on the souls of the appraisers for we will have none.
