BRENHAM VFW POST HONORED WITH ALL-AMERICAN, ALL-STATE STATUS

Brenham VFW Post 7104 has achieved statewide and national distinction.

Members of Brenham VFW Post 7104 gather on June 11
for a ceremony burying the ashes of retired flags that
have been burned. The plaque on the ground reads,
"Here lies the ashes of our beloved stars and stripes,
properly disposed of and retired with dignity."

The post has earned All-American and All-State status for the 2025-26 year, stretching from April 2025 – March 2026.  The post, which was chartered in 1946, has been named All-American three times in the past four years and All-State six times in the last ten years, but this is only the second time in post history it has received both designations in the same year.

Recognition comes as the result of numerous charitable and educational initiatives throughout the year in support of veterans, youth and the community.  Some of those activities include awarding scholarships to veterans and their family members, contributing toward specialized programs for veterans and Gold Star families at Camp For All, visiting students in schools and sponsoring essay contests to enrich their education, donating to the VFW National Home and Texas VFW Foundation, and supporting Brenham ISD’s MCJROTC program by way of the yearly pulled pork fundraiser and providing medals for outstanding cadets.

Post Commander Ben Seeker said there are many things the post does that people might not know about, but they still have a big impact.

Additionally, members of the post appear each month on KWHI as part of the VFW Sound Off, where they share information on veterans’ benefits, upcoming events, and dates of historical significance for the military.

The post also has a flag collection box to accept flags that are no longer suitable for display, so that it may properly retire and dispose of them through the steps listed in United States flag code.  Last Thursday, the post gathered to bury the ashes of retired flags that were burned; this past year, the post disposed with honor 847 flags.

Seeker said the post not only takes pride in what it does for the community, but in how it fosters a community of its own.

In the new post year, members plan to continue their current avenues of engagement while exploring additional ways to collaborate and give back.  They invite the public to join them at their steak and sausage suppers, held every first Friday of the month.

Anyone interested in joining the Brenham VFW can call the post at 979-830-8776.
