BARBRA SCHULTE NAMED RECIPIENT OF NCHA MODINE SMITH HUMANITARIAN AWARD

  

A Brenham woman has been honored by the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA).

Barbra Schulte recently received the 2022 Modine Smith Humanitarian Award.  The recognition was established in 2012 and is given to a person who displays unwavering support of the NCHA and the NCHA Foundation by continuously working to enhance both associations.

Schulte says she is humbled to be recognized with an award honoring the legacy of a woman and her selfless commitment to the NCHA and its members.

Schulte has been an NCHA member since 1981.  She served on the NCHA executive committee for many years, including a vice presidency in both 1994 and 1995.  

Schulte was also very active in the show pen with earnings in excess of $832,000.  She is active in many programs, including the National Youth Cutting Horse Association BraveHearts Shootout where veterans learn to ride and show a cutting horse.

The award is one of many accolades for Schulte, who is a member of the NCHA Hall of Fame and a National Cowgirl Hall of Fame inductee.  She also has been named the American Quarter Horse Association Woman of the Year, Western Horsemen Woman of the West, and a recipient of the American Horse Council Visionary Award.

Barbra and her husband, Tom, have a horse ranch in Washington County and are the owners of the Center for Equestrian Performance in Brenham.
