WASHINGTON COUNTY FARM BUREAU RECOGNIZED AT STATE MEETING
The Washington County Farm Bureau received recognition during the 90th annual Texas Farm Bureau Meeting held in Frisco.
President Larry Winkelmann of Burton was introduced as the District 11 Pioneer Award winner, and named a Star member recruiter.
In addition to that, the Washington County Farm Bureau earned one of 39 Statewide Outstanding Social Media awards for excellent promotion and reporting on agriculture.
The county was also recognized for having a membership reaching 3,836 member families. This helped the Texas Farm Bureau reach their 23rd year of continuous gain with over 554,000 member families.

In other business, District 11 elected Stuart Traylor of Montgomery County to replace outgoing District Director Allen Kaminski of Sealy.
Representing Washington County Farm Bureau at the meeting were Larry and Donna Winkelmann, Linda Oberhoff, Russell Borgstedte, Jon Wellmann, and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Tiner.
Guest speakers at the meeting were State Representative DeWayne Burns of Cleburne, and Texas A&M Agricultural Professor Dr. Tobin Redwine.
On Sunday, there was a gathering of 840 delegates representing 140 counties. They voted on policy for the State Handbook and forwarded policy to the American Farm Bureau Federation for consideration at the January meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.
