STANDOFF LEADS TO ARREST IN BELLVILLE
An early morning standoff with Austin County Law Enforcement led to an arrest in Bellville.
On Saturday, Austin County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Witte Road for a report of a disturbance.
A 9-1-1 caller said that a male subject was armed and discharging a firearm inside the home.
Responding law enforcement units arrived on the scene and reported that they had safely secured all family members from inside the residence.
However, the suspect was still barricaded in the home with a firearm.
The Austin County Regional Special Response Team was notified and responded to the scene.
The SRT Crisis Negotiations Team was also notified and once on the scene, they were able to establish contact with the suspect.
The suspect, who was later identified as 24-year-old Don Nguyen, ultimately surrendered peacefully to the Special Response Team.
Nguyen was not armed when he was taken into custody, but a firearm and shell casings were located inside the residence.
Nguyen was transported to the Austin County Jail, where he was booked in for Aggravated Assault/Family Violence/with a Weapon.
