PURSUIT OF STOLEN VEHICLE TRAVELS THROUGH GRIMES CO., ENDS WITH ARREST IN BRAZOS CO.
A pursuit involving a stolen vehicle traveled through Grimes and Brazos counties Monday night before ending with an arrest.
Navasota police say around 10:30 p.m., the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office asked for assistance in finding a Chevrolet Cruze reported stolen out of Montgomery County traveling west on Highway 105.
Police located the vehicle entering city limits and attempted to stop it at the intersection of Highway 105 and Highway 6, but the driver did not stop and instead accelerated onto Highway 6.
A pursuit ensued with Navasota police and Grimes County Sheriff’s deputies, reaching speeds of around 100 mph. As the chase went into Brazos County, units from DPS, the College Station Police Department and Brazos County Sheriff’s Office joined in attempting to stop the vehicle.
The car was spiked several times, but it continued traveling westbound on University Drive before finally coming to a stop on Wellborn Road.
The driver, 51-year-old Kevin Jackson of Spring, was taken into custody and charged with Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Tampering with Evidence, Possession of a Controlled Substance and a Montgomery County warrant for Resisting Arrest.
