WASHINGTON CO. FAIR JUNIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION SETS NEW TOTAL SALE RECORD

  

Friday was a day to remember for the youth of Washington County at the Washington County Fair’s Junior Livestock Auction.

The unofficial sale total for the 260 lots in the auction set a new record at $1,355,150, breaking the record set last year at $1,247,500.

Five new individual sale records were set, including four Grand Champions and one Reserve Champion.  Combined, the Grand and Reserve Champion lots sold for $203,000, consisting of $128,250 for Grand Champions and $74,750 for Reserve Champions.

Today (Saturday) marks the conclusion of the fair with the livestock judging contest at 8 a.m., little wrangler hay hauling at 9 a.m., and the pet show and country creations youth auction at 10 a.m.  The commercial steer sale will be held at 1 p.m., and the colt and commercial heifer sale will start at 2 p.m.

The carnival opens at 1 p.m.  Other activities in store will be the hay hauling and greased pig contest at 6 p.m., mutton bustin’ championship at 6:30 p.m., and the rodeo at 7:30 p.m.

This evening’s musical entertainment will be Jon Stork opening at 8:30 p.m. for Carly Pearce at 10:30 p.m.

KWHI will have live reports from the fair this morning beginning at 8 a.m., while KTEX-106 will report live tonight and introduce the performers.
