TWO BLINN LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAMS PLACE IN TOP 15 IN PRO DIVISION AT TULSA STATE FAIR

  

Two Blinn College livestock judging teams recently placed in the top 15 at the Tulsa State Fair.

The Blinn blue team was 14^th (4,066 points) and the white team 15^th (4,061) in the pro division at Friday's judging contest in Tulsa, Okla.

The blue team placed fifth in reasons, sixth in hogs, 10^th in cattle, and 22^nd in sheep/goats. The white team was 13^th in sheep/goats, 14^th in reasons and cattle, and 20^th in hogs.

Individually, Lane Hogan led Blinn’s competitors, earning 22^nd place overall with 836 points. Hogan placed fourth in reasons, 14^th in hogs, and 24^th in cattle while Grant Kubala was 11^th in cattle.

In the novice division, the Blinn blue team finished fourth overall with 4,130 points and the white team placed 10^th with 4,060 points.

The blue team was third in cattle and reasons, fifth in hogs, and 14^th in sheep/goats. The white team placed fourth in hogs, sixth in reasons, 13^th in cattle, and 17^th in sheep/goats.

Individually, Ryleigh Gilfoil stood out in the novice division, placing fourth with 853 points. She placed second in cattle, fourth in reasons, and ninth in sheep/goats.

Jenna Lindig was 10^th in reasons, 12^th in cattle, and 15^th in hogs. Sage Schenk placed fifth in hogs, Carolyne Turner was sixth in hogs and ninth in reasons, Paige Zimprich was 11^th in hogs and 16^th in reasons, and Kenna Schram was 11^th in sheep/goats.

The livestock judging team is part of Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program, which has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including the Agriculture Club and Ag Mechanics Club.

Blinn offers agriculture classes on all its campuses, with the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Brenham Campus serving as the program’s headquarters.
