TWO BLINN LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAMS PLACE IN TOP 15 IN PRO DIVISION AT TULSA STATE FAIR

  

Two Blinn College livestock judging teams recently placed in the top 15 at the Tulsa State Fair.

The Blinn blue team was 14th (4,066 points) and the white team 15th (4,061) in the pro division at Friday's judging contest in Tulsa, Okla.

The blue team placed fifth in reasons, sixth in hogs, 10th in cattle, and 22nd in sheep/goats. The white team was 13th in sheep/goats, 14th in reasons and cattle, and 20th in hogs.

Individually, Lane Hogan led Blinn’s competitors, earning 22nd place overall with 836 points. Hogan placed fourth in reasons, 14th in hogs, and 24th in cattle while Grant Kubala was 11th in cattle.

In the novice division, the Blinn blue team finished fourth overall with 4,130 points and the white team placed 10th with 4,060 points.

The blue team was third in cattle and reasons, fifth in hogs, and 14th in sheep/goats. The white team placed fourth in hogs, sixth in reasons, 13th in cattle, and 17th in sheep/goats.

Individually, Ryleigh Gilfoil stood out in the novice division, placing fourth with 853 points. She placed second in cattle, fourth in reasons, and ninth in sheep/goats.

Jenna Lindig was 10th in reasons, 12th in cattle, and 15th in hogs. Sage Schenk placed fifth in hogs, Carolyne Turner was sixth in hogs and ninth in reasons, Paige Zimprich was 11th in hogs and 16th in reasons, and Kenna Schram was 11th in sheep/goats.

The livestock judging team is part of Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program, which has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including the Agriculture Club and Ag Mechanics Club.

Blinn offers agriculture classes on all its campuses, with the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Brenham Campus serving as the program’s headquarters.
