LOCAL OPTOMETRIST NAMED ONE OF TEXAS A&M’S “12 UNDER 12”
Dr. Mary Kate Walters has been named one of Texas A&M University’s 2024 '12 Under 12' Young Alumni recipients.
The award recognizes 12 exceptional graduates who have demonstrated excellence in their profession and service within 12 years of graduating.
Walters, a former student of Texas A&M University, earned her Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Leadership and Development before obtaining her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry.
She discussed with KWHI what the award means to her.
Dr. Walters currently owns VIEW Brenham, a locally owned and operated optometry office in downtown Brenham, and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of VIEW Optometry.
Additionally, she serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Houston College of Optometry and the Clinic Director at Northside Eye Care Center, located within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Fort Worth.
Walters talked about how her time at A&M has made an impact on her life.
The 12 Under 12 Young Alumni Spotlight celebrates graduates who continue to make significant strides in their careers and communities.
Walters and the other winners are going to be presented with the awards on Friday.
