BLINN WOMEN DEFEAT TEMPLE 78-76 ON THE ROAD
Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The Blinn College women's basketball team earned an impressive road win following a back-and-forth affair with Temple College on Tuesday.
The Buccaneers and Leopards engaged in a tightly contested battle until the final buzzer, with Blinn pulling out a thrilling 78-76 victory.
"We escaped tonight," Bucs head coach Jeff Jenkins said. "We have to play better defense in order to keep winning on the road in the future."
Blinn (7-1) never trailed en route to its sixth consecutive victory.
The Bucs held a 26-21 lead after the first quarter before the Leopards clawed within 44-43 by halftime.
Breathing room was in short supply for Blinn heading into the fourth period as it led just 61-57 with 10 minutes remaining.
Sophomore forward Tocarra Johnson and sophomore guard Ja'Nya Thomas provided a bulk of the Bucs' offense with 22 and 19 points, respectively. Sophomore guard Jonesha Neal added 12 points and freshman guard Jasey Campbell tallied eight.
The Bucs continue their season with a home bout against No. 10 McLennan Community College at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Kruse Center in Brenham.
