NEXT PROGRAM TUESDAY IN BHM ‘CROSSROADS’ SPEAKER SERIES
The Brenham Heritage Museum Bus Depot Gallery is set to host the next program in the museum’s “Crossroads” Speaker Series.
Speaking on Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. will be Michelle Johnson, Project Manager of the William J. Hill Texas Artists and Artisans Archive. Johnson’s presentation will explore the topic of the “Material Culture of Washington County,” offering a look into the region's artistic heritage and historical artifacts.
The William J. Hill Texas Artists and Artisans Archive is a freely-searchable online archive which documents the lives, work, and products of Texas artisans and artists through 1900. Named for Houston collector and longtime Bayou Bend supporter William J. Hill, the archive is intended to facilitate research, understanding, and appreciation of Texas decorative arts, as well as painting, photography, and other media.
The event is free for museum members, with a $5 admission fee for non-members. Seating is limited, so RSVPs are encouraged by emailing admin@brenhamheritagemuseum.org.
The program is part of the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street initiative, which will be featured in Brenham this winter. The speaker series is sponsored in part by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Ant Street Inn/Main Street House.
