TWO ACCIDENTS AMONG FOUR CALLS FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls on Friday, two of those being motor vehicle accidents.

Shortly before 3:45 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a transportation incident in the 2700 block of Highway 36 South.  Upon arrival, they found a two-vehicle accident with injuries.  Units helped EMS with the patients and cleaned the roadway off.  Once both vehicles were removed, the department returned to service.

At 6 p.m., BFD personnel received a report of a gas smell inside a home in the 200 block of Burleson Street.  They arrived to find nothing showing from the exterior of the building.  The City of Brenham Gas Department also made location and advised firefighters that there were no hazards, so the fire department cleared the scene.

Around 7:15 p.m., units were called out for a transportation incident in the 4700 block of Highway 290 East.  Once at the scene, they discovered the driver was still inside their vehicle and opened the driver’s door to visit with the patient.  Firefighters helped EMS with patient care and returned to the station after the vehicle was removed from the roadway.

Just before 11 p.m., the department went out to a home in the 100 block of Greenway Drive for a smoke detector sounding.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the home when units arrived.  They replaced the batteries in the smoke detector before clearing the call.
