WASHINGTON CO. APPRAISAL DISTRICT RECEIVES PERFECT SCORE IN STATE COMPTROLLER’S REPORT

The Washington County Appraisal District passed the Texas Comptroller’s 2024 Methods and Assistance Program (MAP) Review with flying colors.

During Tuesday’s Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors meeting, Chief Appraiser Dyann White informed board members that the district received a perfect score in all categories of the MAP report.

The Texas Comptroller is required by statute to review the mandatory requirements for appraisal districts, along with their governance, taxpayer assistance, operating procedures and appraisal standards.  The Washington County Appraisal District met all requirements and received the highest number of points possible in individual review areas.

White said, “Even though we received a perfect score, we don't believe we have achieved perfection.  Our primary goal remains the same - to earn the public trust by providing accurate and uniform appraisals.  There is always room for improvement and we are working hard to continue along this trajectory.”

Other items at Tuesday’s meeting included the appointment of a board chair, vice chair and secretary for 2025.  Leslie Boehnemann Jr. will serve as chair, Charles Gaskamp as vice chair and Douglas Borchardt as secretary.

The board also approved its meeting schedule and budget calendar for this year.  The first budget workshop will take place at the board’s meeting next month.

Business concluded with the board’s annual evaluation of the chief appraiser.  No action was taken.

White reminds property owners that Friday is the last day to pay their property tax bills on time.
