BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. RESPONDS TO GAS ODOR, TWO FIRE ALARMS THURSDAY

The Brenham Fire Department was called out three times on Thursday.

Approaching 10 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to West Jefferson Street at LJ Street for a report of a gas odor.  The fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department checked the area for a leak or smell.  After investigation, the gas department released fire personnel from the call.

Around 4:30 p.m., units responded to a fire alarm at Stanpac USA, 801 Mangrum Street.  After making location and investigating, they found that a sprinkler system pipe busted, causing the alarm to go off.  Firefighters advised the company’s maintenance department to contact a sprinkler company.

BFD members were called back out to Stanpac near 11:45 p.m. for another fire alarm.  The sprinkler system company was on location working on the system, which is what led to the alarm going off.  The fire department informed dispatch of why the alarm went off before returning to service.
