SPRING OPEN COLLECTION DAYS MARCH 6-8 FOR CITY OF BRENHAM, MARCH 13-15 FOR WASHINGTON CO.
The annual Spring Open Collection Days event begins next week at the BVR Collection/Transfer Station in Brenham.
The two-week event will allow local residents to drop off up to 500 pounds of non-hazardous waste for free at the station, located at 2009 Old Chappell Hill Road.
City of Brenham residents can participate next Thursday through Saturday, March 6-8, while Washington County residents can take part from March 13-15.
The event is only for non-commercial customers, who must present their ID and proof of residence upon arrival.
Any debris or material over the 500 pound limit will be charged at the full disposal rate. Customers are limited to one trip per day.
Items that will not be accepted include oil, gas, paint, hazardous liquids, propane tanks, or loads with dirt, cement or bricks. Appliances with coolant will be assessed a $20 removal fee. Tires will be taken at the normal rate.
Hours at the collection station for the event are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
