Navasota police responded around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday to a call of a physical disturbance in progress at a home in the 1800 block of Austiana Court, but they were informed before making location that the suspect had fled in a white Dodge Charger.  Police say several people at the residence reported being assaulted.

An officer located the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but police say the driver refused to comply, leading to a chase.  The pursuit ended at a residence in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street, when the suspect left the vehicle and tried to run away.  Additional Navasota officers and a Grimes County Sheriff’s deputy arrived to detain the suspect, and after a brief struggle inside the home, he was taken into custody.

41-year-old Artillis Flores and a Navasota officer were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and were later released.  Flores was then transported to the Grimes County Jail and charged with four counts of Assault Family Violence, Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest on Foot, Resisting Arrest, and Assault of a Peace Officer.
