The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) is looking to build a new, 195-foot telecommunications tower at 2401 Highway 290 West, on the southwest side of the property.

A 190-foot tower currently sits behind the Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative building, but needs to be replaced due to TxDOT’s plans for construction along Highway 290.

The variance request was needed due to the change in tower height.  The city did not receive any written comments in support of or against the request, and only representatives from LCRA and Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative were in attendance for a public hearing prior to Monday’s vote.
