PURSUIT IN FAYETTE CO. LEADS TO DISCOVERY OF DRUGS
Fayette County authorities seized a large amount of drugs following an early-morning pursuit on Saturday.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says that around 2:30 a.m., Deputy Cody Williams attempted to stop a vehicle on I-10 near Schulenburg for a traffic infraction. The vehicle proceeded to evade westbound at speeds of over 100 mph and blacked out its lights.
The sheriff’s office pursued the vehicle into Gonzales County, where a DPS Trooper was set up with spikes. The vehicle was successfully spiked, bringing the chase to a stop.
While taking an inventory of the vehicle, Deputy Williams located 8.7oz. of marijuana, 123 grams of promethazine and 89 grams of codeine. Additionally, a large amount of clear plastic baggies considered common with marijuana distribution were found in the driver’s side door of the vehicle.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Jasmine Nicole Ybarra of San Antonio, was taken into custody for Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Delivery of Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance. A male passenger was also detained and was released, pending charges.
The sheriff’s office thanks DPS, the Schulenburg Police Department and Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the pursuit.
