THE BARNHILL CENTER ANNOUNCES FIRST TWO GUESTS FOR THEIR 2026 SPEAKER SERIES
“The Barnhill Center Presents” Speaker Series begins 2026 with two distinguished speakers: CEO of the George & Barbara Bush Foundation, Alice Gonzalez Yates and Dr. Jim Allison, the 2018 Nobel Laureate for Physiology or Medicine.
A luncheon setting in Morriss Hall on Tuesday, January 13, will bring Alice Gonzalez Yates to the podium. Yates, as CEO of the George & Barbara Bush Foundation, leads efforts to preserve and promote the historic legacies of President and Mrs. Bush.
Prior to joining the Bush Foundation, Yates led strategic initiatives at Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government & Public Service Washington D.C. teaching site. A highlight of her career in public service is being recognized as a “Yellow Rose of Texas” by the Texas Governor’s Office for positively impacting the state through service to military families.

Doors open at 11:00 a.m., lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. and Yates will speak at noon.
The first evening presentation of the Speaker Series, on April 7, features Dr. Jim Allison who brings to Brenham his distinguished career studying the regulation of T cell responses and pioneering new strategies for cancer immunotherapy. The evening will open with a reception at 5 p.m. in Morriss Hall, and then at 6 pm, Dr. Allison will make his presentation in the Hasskarl Auditorium.
