THREE ACCIDENTS, GRASS FIRE AMONG SEVEN CALLS FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out seven times on Friday.

Close to 10:30 a.m., units were dispatched to a fire alarm at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South.  They found nothing showing from the exterior of the building, and they discovered that a resident had pulled the alarm, so they reset the alarm.

Nearing 11 a.m., firefighters responded to the 2200 block of South Market Street for a report of a child locked inside a vehicle.  They were enroute when the owner of the vehicle returned and left the location.

Around 12:45 p.m., a grass fire was called in from the 1300 block of North Berlin Road.  A small grass fire was found at the location, and units from the Brenham Fire Department and Berlin Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Three transportation incidents were reported in the afternoon and evening, including a two-vehicle crash at 2 p.m. at West Tom Green Street and South Austin Street, a two-vehicle accident around 6:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Highway 290 East, and a three-vehicle crash just after 7:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Highway 290 West.  For each incident, the fire department remained on location until all vehicles were removed from the roadway.  EMS was called for each crash, but no information was available on possible injuries.

Approaching 8 p.m., BFD personnel went out to Baymont by Wyndham, 2950 Wood Ridge Boulevard, for an alarm sounding.  Upon arrival, nothing was showing from the outside of the building, and a walkthrough of the area found no signs of smoke or fire.  Firefighters spoke with an employee to advise what they found with the alarm panel before returning to service.
