court on Tuesday. Aspen had served the Precinct 4
Constable's Office since 2019.
K-9 Aspen served as a drug dog under Precinct 4 Constable Greg Rolling for six years, after being donated to the county by Aspen Midstream, LLC in 2019. According to Rolling, Aspen passed away on December 9th from an unforeseen medical emergency.
Joining Rolling and the commissioners court in mourning Aspen were members of other local and area law enforcement agencies, including the Precinct 1-3 Constable’s Offices, Brenham Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the College Station and Texas A&M Police Departments. After a moment of silence, county dispatch recognized his end of watch.
The court presented Rolling with a memorial display, commemorating Aspen’s service.
Rolling acknowledged the close bond he had with Aspen, saying that often times, K-9 handlers spend more time with their dogs than their own families. He said Aspen was great at his job and was “the happiest dog that ever lived.” He also thanked the Burton Veterinary Clinic for its assistance.
County Judge John Durrenberger called Aspen a “good friend, good dog, and a good officer.”
