‘FREEDOM: A HISTORY OF US’ ON DISPLAY AT BRENHAM HERITAGE MUSEUM
The Brenham Heritage Museum has a new temporary exhibit on display in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
“Freedom: A History of US”, drawing on materials from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, traces the evolving concept of freedom from the founding era to the present day.
Highlights of the collection are photographs of a 1776 printing of the Declaration of Independence, a printed draft, the official copy of the U.S. Constitution, Abraham Lincoln’s handwritten notes for speeches, and letters by leading figures such as Frederick Douglass, Susan B. Anthony and Martin Luther King Jr.
The exhibit, underwritten by Lori and John Hasskarl, will be on display in the museum’s Hasskarl Gallery through August 1st.
Normal hours of operation for the museum are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The museum will be open tomorrow (Friday), but will be closed on Saturday.
