WASHINGTON CO. APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD APPROVES REAPPRAISAL PLAN
The Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors on Tuesday adopted the appraisal district’s 2027-28 reappraisal plan.
There were no comments during a public hearing on the reappraisal plan, the development of which is required biennially by Texas property tax code by September 15th of each even-numbered year. Appraisal districts that determine the appraised values of a property using mass appraisal standards must ensure those standards comply with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
Activities required when reappraising real and personal property at least once every three years include identifying properties by physical inspection or other reliable means of identification, defining market areas, identifying and updating property characteristics affecting value in those market areas, developing an appraisal model and applying conclusions from the model to individual properties, and reviewing appraisal results to determine value.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, board members approved a contract with Commercial Real Estate Exchange Inc. for $6,000. The contract is for a subscription that provides the appraisal district with access to nationwide property records, sales comparables and real-time market data.
Other business included approval of the annual contract with Brenham ISD, allowing the school district to perform all duties of the appraisal district; approval of budget transfers; and recognition of Joy Body for 15 years of service to the appraisal district.
