BRENHAM PARKS & RECREATION TO HOST ‘UNPLUG & PLAY IN THE PARK’ WEDNESDAY

Brenham Parks and Recreation invites the community to get out and have fun outside during the “Unplug and Play in the Park” event on Wednesday.

Being held as part of the statewide Unplug Texas Day observation, the event will provide a variety of activities to enjoy throughout the day to help promote the physical, mental and social benefits of parks, recreation and outdoor experiences.

The day will open at Jackson Street Park at 9 a.m., where guests can enjoy a walk and talk with Brenham Mayor Atwood Kenjura, police, firefighters and other City of Brenham officials.  Coffee and scones from The Honey Cup will be available while supplies last.

A pickleball clinic will be offered from 9:30 to 10 a.m., followed by open play from 10 to 11 a.m.

Activities will move to downtown Brenham in the afternoon starting at 4 p.m., where there will be an old-school game zone in Alamo Alley with giant Jenga, giant Connect 4 and Tic-Tac-Toe.

Additionally, there will be a scavenger hunt in downtown, starting and ending in Alamo Alley, with the chance to win a special prize from Brenham Parks and Recreation.

Afterwards, attendees are invited to stay in downtown for Brenham ISD’s homecoming parade at 6 p.m.
