FAYETTE COUNTY HIGH SPEED CHASE ENDS IN ARREST

  

A high speed chase led to an arrest of an Austin man Saturday in Fayette County.

At approximately 12 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office that a deputy was attempting to stop a white BMW on State Highway 71. The vehicle was traveling east bound and was reaching speeds of 100 mph while failing to stop for law enforcement.

Fayette County Deputies Marc Bennett and C.J. Lehmann set up spikes near the FM 609 exit. As the vehicle approached, the driver saw law enforcement and pulled over.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Brandon Butler, was taken into custody for felony evading arrest with a vehicle. Authorities say a search of his vehicle did not indicate any motive for running from authorities.
