GRIMES COUNTY JAIL INMATE DIES IN CUSTODY
An inmate has died at the Grimes County Jail.
According to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation in to the death of 59-year-old Tommie Edward Taylor, of Houston, continues.
Taylor had been in jail in Anderson since September 30th on a forgery charge. Sheriff Don Sowell says Taylor had a previous illness and was alone in his cell because of these health problems.
The jail staff was preparing to transfer Taylor to the doctor Monday morning when he became unresponsive. Staff members performed CPR on Taylor, while an ambulance was dispatched. The ambulance crew was unable to resuscitate Taylor and he was pronounced dead at 11:06 a.m. Monday.
No other information has been released at this time. An autopsy is scheduled to take place today (Tuesday).
