FOUR CANDIDATES SEEKING BURTON SCHOOL BOARD POSITIONS
Four candidates are seeking three at-large positions on the Burton School Board this year, including three incumbents and one newcomer.
Linda Majek Hasten, the only non-incumbent who filed this year, was born and raised in Carrizo Springs, Texas. She graduated with highest honors from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.
Retired from the Texas public school system, Hasten taught history for 12 years and was a counselor for over 11 years.
Hasten says she wants to represent the interests of the students and citizens of Burton:
Incumbents Felton Cox, Misty Goldberg Lucherk and Jeff Harmel have all filed for re-election.
All three candidates were elected to the board in 2014. Misty Goldberg Lucherk won reelection that year with 156 votes—second most among the candidates. Felton Cox received the most votes in 2014 with 182 and Jeff Harmel was elected to the board in 2014 with 147 votes.
Voting will take place on Saturday at Burton High School from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
