Brenham’s Kysan Bucker is in good position after the First Go at the 27th Annual International Finals Youth Rodeo.
Bucker, competing in barrel racing at the championships in Shawnee, Oklahoma, posted a time of :16.531 in her first go. That placed her in fifth place, just .123-of a second behind front runner, Kenzie Cook of South Carolina (:16.408).
College Station’s Kenlee Close is currently fourth at :16.522. Sydney Arthur of Navasota is 105th of 219 competitors, with a time of :17.431.
The Second Go is set for Wednesday and Thursday. The top 15 averages advance to Friday’s finals.
