BURTON BRIDGE MINISTRY CREATES BLANKETS FOR MEMORY CARE PATIENTS

In an effort to bring comfort to loved ones suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s during the holidays—especially as some are not receiving personal visits—volunteers with the Burton Bridge Ministry are sewing activity blankets.

Sometimes called busy blankets or fidget blankets, these lap-sized quilts include tactile notions and objects, often featuring interactive elements like pockets, zippers, or peek-a-boo images.

The activity blankets can be purchased by visiting www.burtonbridgeministry.org.  The ministry will ship the blankets anywhere within the United States.  Supporters can also purchase a blanket and have it donated to an area memory care patient.

Proceeds from the sale of these blankets help underwrite the ministry’s Christmas programs that include distributing goods to food pantry clients on December 11th, as well as handing out a Christmas dinner and toys to low income families on December 18th.

Blanket kits are available for anyone wishing to take part in the project.  To learn more, email burtonbridgeministry@gmail.com, or call 979-337-3370.
