Back in August, the city’s recreation department received a grant from Rebuild Texas and KABOOM!, a national non-profit organization that works to provide children with safe places to play.  The grant will go towards a 4800 square foot Ninja Warrior-style course, which will be built on December 7th at White Rock Park.

In the grant, the city agreed to form a team of about 200 volunteers to build the course.  City employees will prepare the site before the build day.

Volunteers are asked to be at the park on the 7th by 8:30 a.m. to start setting posts and assembling the pieces of the obstacle course.  Work will be available for volunteers of all levels of skill and availability.  The city expects construction to wrap up the same day, around 2:30 p.m.

Volunteers will receive a free breakfast and lunch, and there will be a DJ onsite providing entertainment throughout the day.

Roughly a third of the adventure course, which local youth helped design, is made for children ages five to 12.  The larger part of the course, with more challenging obstacles, is designed for ages 12 and up.

Anyone interested in volunteering on the build day can register at https://cityoflgadventurecoursebuild.eventbrite.com.
