FUNERAL SERVICE FRIDAY FOR LOCAL WWII VETERAN

A local World War II Veteran who passed away in July, will be remembered Friday at a very special funeral in Brenham.

The public is invited to attend at special service this afternoon for Earl Lee Bright, who died this summer at the age of 98.  Bright served as a Corporal in the Army during World War II in Germany and the Pacific.

A funeral service for Bright will be held at 2:00 this afternoon at the Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.

According to those close to Bright, due to legal complications he wasn't going to have a proper funeral, befitting a World War II veteran.  However, the community, including a Texas A&M student stepped in to raise more than $4,000 for his final expenses.

Texas A&M Senior Issachar Beechner is also a Sergeant in the Marine Corps and wants Corporal Bright to be remembered for his service.

Beechner says they will be paying Bright the proper respects, with the local VFW Post presenting a 21 gun salute, a flag folding ceremony and Taps will be played.

Beechner says they are encouraging anyone who's available to show their support for the service of Earl Lee Bright.

The funeral service will be this afternoon at 2:00 at Prairie Lee Cemetery in Brenham.

  1. Legal complications? Is that what they call the vultures fighting over Earls money? Anyone in the know, knows what he endured after the war decades later by Washington county mercenary minded people.
