The entire Brazos Valley is gearing up for triple digit temperatures through the weekend and into the beginning of next week.

In addition to triple digit heat, the heat index are expected in the 105-plus degree territory for several hours each afternoon through the end of the week.

A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for: Washington, Austin, Lee, Burleson, Brazos, Grimes and Waller counties

The Heat Advisory is in effect from 1:00-to-7:00 p.m.

Officials say the heat has led to an increased risk of heat-related illness and heat stroke.

The public is urged to take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible...reschedule strenuous activities to the evening.  Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.  Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work...OSHA recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

Heat stroke is an emergency - call 911.
