LABOR AND DELIVERY SERVICES TO RESUME MONDAY AT BAYLOR SCOTT AND WHITE IN BRENHAM

Babies will soon be delivered in Brenham again.

Baylor Scott and White in Brenham has announced that, beginning Monday, its Labor and Delivery Department will be taken off of “divert” status, and will resume scheduled deliveries.

Board Chair Shirley Herring stated several board certified OB/GYN’s from within and outside the Baylor Scott and White system will provide coverage. Meanwhile, the hospital will continue its recruitment efforts for permanent certified OB/GYN support.

Herring said temporary backup is being provided through Baylor Scott and White’s College Station and Temple locations. In addition, a contract has been signed with an outside recruitment firm, for long-term care.

An update was also provided on Dr. Aaron Campbell, the only certified OB/GYN in Brenham, who left on medical leave in early December.

Herring said Dr. Campbell has returned to his private practice, and is providing some of the backup coverage at the hospital.  She noted he will “continue to make the decisions that are best for him and his patients”, and that Baylor Scott and White will support him in those decisions.

The Labor and Delivery Department at Baylor Scott and White in Brenham has been closed since December 10th, following Dr. Campbell going on leave.

Herring said Baylor Scott and White remains “steadfast” in its commitment to expectant mothers and babies in Brenham, and it looks forward to resuming these services.

  1. This is great news, along with the development of a new shopping center announced by the city, our area is finally moving in the right direction.

    1. Their certifications are a little different but don’t doubt their abilities! They are amazing doctors! I have worked with them here for the past 6 years and would trust them with my life!
