LARGE CROWD AT TED CRUZ RALLY SATURDAY

Over 100 people turned out for Saturday’s Ted Cruz rally at Smitty's Café in downtown Brenham, despite heavy rain and a lengthy delay.

The Republican Senator Cruz, running against Democratic Congressman Beto O’Rourke, arrived late after coming from a fundraiser event in Copperas Cove.  Cruz began speaking around 2:15 p.m., addressing his four main concerns during his time in office.

Cruz admitted the race with O’Rourke has been tight, saying O’Rourke’s campaign has out-funded his own by more than two-to-one.

Cruz said he’s always enjoyed visiting Brenham, when he’s able to.

Cruz began taking questions from the crowd around 2:30 p.m., with closing comments around 3:05 p.m.

District 18 State Senator Lois Kolkhorst also spoke at the event, before Cruz took the stage.  Kolkhorst talked about the Senate and what has been accomplished during her time in office, as well as economic accomplishments of the district and state.
