ONE KILLED, ONE TRANSPORTED AFTER ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 290 WEST OF BRENHAM
A Brenham woman was killed and a young child was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon west of Brenham.
According to DPS Sergeant Erik Burse, a 2014 Toyota was traveling eastbound on Highway 290 shortly after 2:30 p.m. when a 2012 Volkswagen driving westbound failed to yield the right of way when turning onto Shady Acres Lane, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.
A passenger in the Volkswagen, 35-year-old Deissy Grimaldo of Brenham, was pronounced dead after being transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. A second passenger, a two-year-old girl, was taken in stable condition to Baylor Scott and White in Brenham.
No injuries were reported to the driver of the Volkswagen, 37-year-old Samuel Grimaldo of Brenham, or to the driver of the Toyota, 27-year-old Emily Murray of Austin.
Burse said investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
