Voters in Washington County turned out yesterday (Tuesday) to cast their ballots during the General Election.

Voters re-elected Republican Incumbent Kirk Hanath for County Commissioner of Precinct Three. Hanath won with 3,189 votes, while his opponent Joanne Doherty brought in 777 votes.  Hanath says is humbled to win this race:

Republican Don Koester was elected as County Commissioner for Precinct One. Koester ran against democrat Lewis Houser, winning with 1,710 votes as opposed to Houser’s 1,300 votes.

Koester says he is thankful to the voters in Washington County:

There were 10,944 votes cast in Washington County for Donald Trump, while Hillary Clinton pulled in 3,381 votes.

A total of 14,995 people in Washington County voted during the General Election. With 22,884 registered voters, the county saw a 65.53 percent voter turn-out.

The voter turn-out is higher than the previous presidential election. In the 2012 General Election, 64.23 percent of registered voters in Washington County cast ballots.
