County Commissioner of Precinct One Zeb Heckman announced on Monday that he plans to run for re-election for his current position.

Heckman said in the announcement that “I have enjoyed serving the citizens of Precinct One as their County Commissioner very much and look forward to another four years of service.”

“Also, I have enjoyed working with the other members of the Commissioner’s Court as well as all other elected officials and department heads.  Building good, working relationships and teamwork are a couple of the keys to getting projects and other things accomplished.”

“One of the most rewarding accomplishments for the county, including Precinct One, in my current term is the awarding of the Community Development Block Grant for the sewer improvements in the Alois Lane/Shed Johnson Lane area.  After three unsuccessful attempts, I continued to fight and push for the grant and was finally successful on the fourth attempt.”

“Leadership and experience are two of the most important attributes you should have to be an elected official.  Only honesty and integrity are more important.  Outside of Commissioner’s Court, I am the county’s representative to the Brenham Heritage Museum where I have served as Board Chairman for over five years.  I am the county’s representative to the Washington County Historical Commission.  I am a member of the Brenham Evening Lions Club and the Independence Historical Society.

“Also, I am a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill.  Currently, I am serving my second time as Church Treasurer.  Before my second time as Treasurer, I served as Council President.”

“I am proud of the accomplishments I have made as your County Commissioner since I began serving in 2005 and I look forward to making many more.  It is a pleasure and honor for me to serve the citizens of Precinct One.  Their comments and questions are always welcomed.”
