BRENHAM FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND MONDAY TO CRASH, FALLEN TREE LIMB ON POWER LINE

The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls on Monday.

The first call was a crash around 11:45 a.m. in the 1600 block of Highway 290 West.  Units made location to find a two-vehicle accident on the shoulder of the highway.  They checked both vehicles, removed debris from the roadway and provided traffic control at the scene.

Just past noon, the department was dispatched to a fire alarm at a home in the 2400 block of Ryan Street.  Bad batteries were found in the smoke detectors, so personnel changed the batteries before returning to service.

Shortly after 1 p.m., firefighters were sent out to another fire alarm, this one in the 600 block of South Market Street.  Units discovered there was a malfunction in the alarm system and helped reset it.

Around 5:15 p.m., BFD members were called to a utility emergency at a home in the 1800 block of Church Street.  Upon arrival, they found a tree limb had fallen onto a power line.  They stood by until the City of Brenham Electric Department made location before turning it over to them and clearing the scene.
